They are a part of the experience.

What makes a show popular? Well, of course a strong story at the center of it, unexpected plot twists, perfect cast, and many other things. But another important part of the show is its theme song and the overall intro to the series.

Sometimes those are either extremely forgettable or really annoying so that you just skip them to get to the point. But there are a few examples of intros crafted so carefully, they really become united with the series and make it impossible for the fans to press the skip button.

Here are 5 series fans can't help but enjoy the perfect intros before diving into the next episode of the beloved series.

1. Succession ( 2018-2023)

Of course, there was no way we could have started with anything else. The opening credits of Succession show footage of a wealthy family from many years ago mixed with modern images of life in the megalopolis, once again highlighting the duality of the family conflict in the middle of the show.

The main theme was composed by Nicholas Britell, and he manages to capture the intense drama of everything Succession has to offer, as well as the absurdity of it all. The mix of light hip-hop and dark, intense classical music makes the theme song a masterpiece.

“Can we agree Succession has the greatest theme song in television history. Every episode when that theme song came on it would get me wired, the way it subtly starts up during significant moments throughout the series. bravo Nicholas Britell for this work of art you have blessed my ears with,” Redditor FtppureM said.

2. The Sopranos ( 1999-2007)

The intro to one of the most iconic, though extremely violent and still absolutely loved series, The Sopranos, is a perfect introduction to the show itself. You follow the leading character in his car while he drives from one place to another, looking tense. So it feels like you have to complete each journey with him to understand what’s going on.

And all this happens while Alabama 3 are singing their legendary song Woke Up This Morning, which seems perfect for the show. But the reason it fits The Sopranos so well is not because it was written for the show (it wasn't), but because it was inspired by a real-life murder... So the poignancy in the song is real, and that's why you just can't forget it.

3. True Detective ( 2014-2019)

Once you hear the True Detective season 1 theme song, you get really hooked. It's so dark and mysterious, yet full of love and hope, that you can't help but fall under its spell. Far From Any Road by The Handsome Family has a kind of gothic folk melody and adds to it the enigmatic lyrics... It just perfectly captures the soul of the season.

4. White Lotus (2021-2023)

White Lotus is probably the only show whose theme song can hypnotize you. The show's composer, Cristobal Tapia de Veer, a Chilean-Canadian musician, created the main sound/song for both seasons, but while they have a common foundation melody, they are completely different in their enigma.

The first season's Aloha is more upbeat and kind of jungley, but still disturbs you with the singing or whatever it is that makes those noises. And you can't even describe the second season's Renaissance properly: it starts with classical piano and goes back to the weird opera.

You don't understand if the sounds are human or not, you just dive into the ocean of this intoxicating music and wait for the story to start.

5. True Blood (2008-2014)

With True Blood's intro, HBO nailed the eerie juxtaposition of visuals, theme, and music that fans have come to admire. We see the images of death and decay, desperate prayer and baptism, all to prepare the viewer for the dark truth that awaits when the intro ends and the show begins. All under the Southern Gothic themes that keep you glued to the screen.
