If you can’t get enough of brave-hearted superheroes, but are tired of popular movies, this is for you.

Here are five little-known series that are definitely worth a watch.

5. Mutant X (2001–2004)

This series was released under Marvel Studios, but it didn’t have any ties with the corresponding comics. The show follows a team of genetically modified people who want to help their fellow mutants and stop government experiments. The premise might sound cliched, but the series is actually pretty good. The early 2000s atmosphere, a young Victor Webster, and lots of action – just what the doctor ordered!

4. Invincible ( 2021–...)

This animated show, created by Robert Kirkman, is slowly gaining a following ahead of the November premiere of its second season. Based on the comic book series of the same name, it centers around Mark Grayson, aka Invincible, and his superhero journey, carefully guided by his father Nolan Grayson / Omni-Man. It’s an adult-oriented series, and it shows in the topics tackled!

3. Misfits (2009–2013)

OK, this show was once mainstream, but those days are long gone. The British sci-fi series provides an unusual spin on the genre by turning a group of young offenders into superheroes. Starring Robert Sheehan, Iwan Rheon, Lauren Socha, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, and Antonia Thomas, the show was an immediate success upon its release and needs to be rediscovered by a new generation of fans!

2. Heroes (2006–2010)

We bet you forgot this series even existed, right? However, back in the 2000s, the show was everything to the superhero genre. The first two seasons were *chef’s kiss*, with the last two slowly deteriorating in quality. Still, the series features a talented ensemble cast, including Milo Ventimiglia (yes, Jess from Gilmore Girls ), and offers quite a few unexpected storylines across four seasons.

1. Powers (2015–2016)

This show truly didn’t deserve to get canceled so abruptly. Based on the comic book series of the same name, it follows a former superhero who became a detective and his partner as they deal with crimes involving superhumans. A well-written police procedural with lots of drama and a dash of superhero – what more could you possibly want?
