5 Movies Critics Were Completely Wrong About
Don't always believe what you read on Rotten Tomatoes.
When a new movie comes out, it's almost a reflex at this point to go ahead and read some critics' reviews on it to understand what you're signing up for.
With the ever-increasing price of tickets, not many people want to subject themselves to two hours of watching something only to be disappointed at the end.
However, movie history is littered with instances where critics got it wrong and their review was not at all in line with what the audience had to say about the movie.
Whether they were too harsh or, on the contrary, not harsh enough, the general public may still disagree.
Here are 5 movies that audiences think critics got completely wrong.
Scooby-Doo (2002)
Written by James Gunn and directed by Raja Gosnell, the movie now has a critics' score of 32% on Rotten Tomatoes and a not-so-high 39% audience score.
However, social media users disagree, calling it the best take on the story, filled with clever scenes.
Eternals (2021)
Although Eternals has one of the lowest reviews of any MCU film and was considered a flop upon its release, audiences don't hate it nearly as much as critics. With 47% of the critics, Eternals got 77% of the audience, which is a pretty big gap.
Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
This one has one of the most glaring gaps of all, with only 29% of critics and 63% of audiences. Both Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck managed to impress audiences just enough to get the film to $873 million at the box office, so we bet the studio wasn't too upset with the reception.
Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
This is the case of a movie that was overhyped and didn't live up to expectations. Despite scoring over 90 percent from both critics and audiences, true Spider-Man fans still consider this movie to be the worst of the franchise.
Sucker Punch (2011)
Although both the critical and audience scores for this movie on Rotten Tomatoes don't seem too high, there's a whole army of loyal stans ready to defend it from all the unnecessary criticism.
Surely, you have to admit that the movie is definitely an eye candy and deserves more appreciation than that.
