5. Why Is Lily’s Mother Not Around More?
Janice is based in New York, and Lily supposedly has a much better relationship with her mom than with her dad who has failed her so many times. Yet, Mickey is a frequent reoccurrence and even ends up being the parent that goes to Rome with Lily and Marshall whereas Janice is nowhere to be seen. Something doesn’t add up!
4. What’s Up with Marshall’s Fighting Skills?
In season 1, Marshall gets jealous over a guy who is seemingly hitting on Lily at the bar. He is almost ready to fight him, but the whole thing turns out to be a huge misunderstanding, leading Marshall to sigh in relief and say that he’s never been in a fight before. However, a couple of seasons later, Marshall tells the gang all about his brutal fights with his brothers. Hmm…

3. When Does Barney Learn How to Drive?
In season 2, Barney reveals that he can’t drive because he has never bothered to learn. As the episode goes on, Ted tries to teach his friend, but the lesson doesn’t go well as Barney is terrified of the idea. One episode later, Barney steals Ted’s truck to prevent him from moving to Robin’s apartment. Either Barney is a big fat liar, or that’s a huge plot hole.
2. How Does Barney’s Magical Photo Power Work?
Barney not being able to take a bad picture is one of the show’s funniest gags. However, in the episode with Barney’s stalker, Lily snaps a shot of Barney as he gets beaten up, and it’s safe to say that the image is far from perfect. Plus, How I Met Your Mother’s opening sequence features a couple of photos where Barney is hammered and not looking good.
1. Where Does Ted’s Sister Go?
Heather is a character that doesn’t make any sense. She is first mentioned as a married woman whose husband is a “sandals guy,” and yet she is single and ready to mingle later when she moves to New York. Besides, if Heather is somewhere in New York, why doesn’t she appear hanging out with the gang more often?
