He may be one of the main characters of the show, although that doesn't give him all the power over the audience. In some cases, the writers manage to handle the difficult boy, but there have been very annoying parts of the episodes.

Mike Wheeler has been a controversial character almost from the beginning. While some fans admire his leadership and bravery, others can't stand with his arrogance and insensitivity.

Here are five reasons why.

5. Mike and his family

We can talk about Mike's treatment of Will, El or the rest of his friends for a long time, but it's worth saying something about the boy's relationship with his family.

He rarely communicates with Nancy, even during their adventures together, the boy does not seem to care about her.

While the father is always on duty in the armchair, the mother really loves and cares for him, but Mike doesn't appreciate it.

He never says thank you for breakfast, doesn't listen to her when she tells him to behave, and in one scene he even manages to tell his little sister that Santa Claus doesn't really exist, which makes the baby cry...

What a terrible thing to do!

4. Mike and Max

When Max, a new girl in town, joined the gang in season 2, Mike immediately disliked her for no apparent reason.

The boy was just jealous because he thought this redhead was going to replace El, and he didn't care that his friends might like her.

Mike went out of his way to exclude her from their adventures, and in one scene even had an argument with his buddies about her presence in the gang while Max overheard.

3. Mike and Hopper

Not only does Mike like to leave his friends alone, he also likes to blame the elders for everything that happens.

For example, during his relationship with El in season 3, there was a scene where he berated Hopper for keeping a very close eye on them.

And when the Sheriff's behavior is indeed questionable, he later apologizes, Mike's rant at him was just... ugh.

2. Mike and the gang

In season 1, Mike became obsessed with Eleven, and while his loyalty to her was admirable, he often neglected his true friends.

In this scene, Mike left his D&D game with Dustin and Lucas to go find the girl, leaving them to fend for themselves against the Demogorgon.

1. Mike and his best friend Will

The most hated scene happened in season 4 when Mike came to California.

Not only did he seem very cold to El, but he didn't pay any attention to Will, and at some point even ignored what appeared to be his confession.

This was peak ignorance from Mike — some fans are still not over it.

Of course, after such a compilation, it seems that Mike is a disgusting character, but the writers always make sure that he apologizes, corrects or overcomes all the bad traits with his bravery and it works for someone.

Will Mike Wheeler finally grow up in the fifth season of Stranger Things? Wait and see.
