Overall, it's safe to say that 2023 was a year of growth and progress for the Korean drama industry. However, not all of the shows released this year deserve even an ounce of your attention.
Whether they started out well but lost their spark somewhere along the way, or were a complete mess to begin with, it doesn't matter. Here are 5 of the 2023 K-dramas you should avoid at all costs.
Heartbeat
If this was a rating, The Heartbeat would certainly be the most voted of the worst. So many people were so excited to watch this show only to be shocked at how bad it was. The show spent way too much time on secondary characters, and the ending of the main storyline let the chemistry between the leads evaporate right before the eyes of the viewers.
Destined With You
One of the most disappointing shows of the year, just because of how good it started and how low it fell in the end. The interesting aspect of magic was completely forgotten, and viewers were left with a very bland drama with a villain with no real motives, and no real chemistry between the actors. This is one of those shows you better not even start.
Strong Girl Nam Soon
Many viewers have to force themselves to watch this drama out of respect for the fact that it's supposed to be a sequel to a very popular drama, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. If you're thinking of doing the same, just don't. The acting is bad, the story is uninteresting, and the show is a mess that will disappoint you.
See You in My 19th Life
The drama starts perfectly: the cinematography, the OST, the writing - everything promises high-quality television. However, after episode 6, the drama drops significantly and never recovers. Whether the creators found it too hard to manage so many storylines, or the underwhelming finale was part of the plan from the beginning, but it wasn't pleasant at all.
Castaway Diva
The show had a lot of mysterious potential to explore, but it fell flat at every turn. After episode 2 of the drama, the intrigue was gone and viewers felt no tension at all. Even the chemistry between the two leads didn't feel all that compelling. An overall great idea turned out to be simply boring and not worth anyone's effort.
