Game of Thrones sure did have its fair share of arrogant blondes under the red and gold banners, but these five are among the best characters of the show altogether.

5. Kevan Lannister

If you haven't rewatched GoT recently, you're probably thinking, "Who's that one?" and we can't blame you. Kevan was Tywin's younger brother who took his place as the Hand of the King to Tommen, and out of all Lannisters, he was the most decent person.

Unlike most of his relatives, Kevan did have morals and tried to do the right thing, aiding the young and naive King; for that, he was blown up in the Sept by Cersei along with many others.

4. Tywin Lannister

This is the man you absolutely remember and won't ever forget. Tywin Lannister, the patriarch of his House, was a machine rather than a person: infinitely heartless, cunning, and brutal, Tywin was singlehandedly responsible for the rise of the Lannisters.

Tywin never cared for anyone who got in his way, including his own children, and he doesn't have many redeeming qualities — but even though he was a devil, he was the best devil of them all.

3. Cersei Lannister

Much like her father Tywin, Cersei Lannister is a vile and merciless person, but also a strong and cunning leader, a scheming strategist to the bone. Cersei is infinitely loyal to her family and even though her father doesn't value her too much, she does what it takes to help him.

Cersei is exactly the kind of character you're captivated with regardless of whether you love her or hate her — for most people, it's both. She doesn't learn from her mistakes, but boy is she one of the strongest GoT characters.

2. Jaime Lannister

Among all the Lannisters, Jaime is the most ambiguous person. You know that he's done terrible things and will likely do even more, but you still can't help but root for him as his character develops and unwraps. Jaime is a monster that can't stand being a monster.

For all his charm, guilt, and moral struggles, Jaime Lannister is one of the most beloved GoT characters: you can't relate to his crimes, but you can relate to his emotions, and his arc is straight-up heartbreaking.

1. Tyrion Lannister

Tyrion is simply one of the most complex and likable characters. His empathy, humor, wit, and resilience are iconic, and he makes each scene he's in better by a milestone.

With that said, Tyrion is by no means a perfect person: he's sinful and often pessimistic, but his brilliance is unmatched, and while you could theoretically cut some other Lannister out, Game of Thrones would've never been the same without Tyrion.
