5 Disney Movies That Will Make Even Adults Cry
Disney goes big on the feels.
It seems that Disney has been around forever – and it certainly has a fair back catalogue of films, including some of the most memorable movies of all time. So, it's no surprise that there are a few tear-jerkers in amongst them.
Here are 5 Disney movies that will make even adults cry.
1. Up
This is a movie that the phrase 'Not a dry eye in the house' was made for. Firstly, we see Ellie find out that she's pregnant and decorate the nursery for her new baby, only to suffer a miscarriage. And if that wasn't enough, there is a full eight-minute segment in which the most perfect love story is played out that is followed by Ellie's death and poor old Carl being left all alone for the first time in his life.
2. Bambi
Who could forget that awful moment (so tenderly done) when Bambi's mother is shot? Then, of course, comes the painful part where Bambi has no idea where his mother has gone – but as viewers we're all too aware that she's not coming back. This one has been bringing children and adults to tears for decades and will continue to do so.
3. Wreck-it Ralph
A movie about computer game characters may not have been one for which audiences expected to find themselves moved to tears. But when Ralph purposefully destroyed Vanellope's kart so she wouldn't be deleted from the game, be honest…you welled up didn't you?
4. Wall-E
Another movie that may have taken viewers by surprise by just how soppy they became when watching it. The scene when Eve puts Wall-E back together, but he can't remember her, though, is one that is sadly familiar to many as she tries everything she can think of to spark his memory back into life.
5. Toy Story 3
Trapped in a giant furnace, the characters try desperately to free themselves. And, though we're not quite sure how they'll manage it, we know they will. Because that's how Disney films work, isn't it? Alas, not this one. And there is a sense of poignancy and sadness as first the characters and then the viewer must face the horrifying reality that this is the end. Holding hands, they accept their fate.
In many ways, it seems amazing that cartoons can do this to us. But then maybe that's the magic of Disney.
