HBO would want to tick all the boxes, or they’ll face fan fury.

Given how rich and vast the Harry Potter universe is, it was bound to get a reboot sooner or later. While the Harry Potter Max Original series isn’t coming out anytime soon, it seems that fans have some pretty strong feelings about what they want to see in the reboot of the Harry Potter series. They shared their requirements on Reddit.

Proper Lines

Fans have noticed that the movies sometimes gave the wrong lines to the wrong characters. For example, Hermione was given some lines that originally belonged to other characters. One fan pointed out that Ron said some “dumb” things in the movies that belonged to other characters in the books.

Fans are hoping the series will stay true to the books and give Ron the recognition he deserves. And while we're on the topic, fans don’t want the show to make him the "dopey sidekick."

Faithfulness to the Books

Fans are hoping for a series that's more faithful to the books. They want to see moments and characters that the movies had to cut, like Sirius' time in Hogsmeade or Ron explaining why 'mudblood' is offensive. They have to justify that the TV format is really more fitting for the Harry Potter adaptation.

Little Moments Matter

Remember that hilarious scene where Ron tries to call Harry at the Dursleys but has no clue how a phone works? Fans want to see these small, but memorable moments from the books make it to the screen.

Character Depth

It's not just about the main trio. Secondary characters in the Harry Potter series have their arcs and growth. By not exploring these characters fully, the movies missed out on showing all the richness of Rowling's world.

Characters like Ginny, for example, who was such a force in the books, felt sidelined in the movies. Fans are hoping they get the screen time they deserve in the reboot.

Intros

The initial chapters of each book set the tone and introduce plot points that become crucial later, and fans feel the movies glossed over them. They're hoping the series will dive deeper into these intros, setting up the mysteries and plotlines more effectively.
