Chicago Fire has had its share of lighthearted moments that have made fans smile and feel happy for their favorite characters.

When Bianca Holloway is suddenly shot by a hitman and eventually dies in the hospital, Kelly Severide finds himself in a difficult position, as he has grown attached to her and was babysitting her son at the moment of tragedy.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that the boy's aunt has asked Kelly not to tell him about his mother. The moment when the boy finally learns the terrible truth brought fans to tears.

A Coffin That Small (Season 1, Episode 19)

When a boy trapped in a laundry shoot dies from his injuries, the firefighters later all salute the funeral procession to pay their respects.

Many fans confess that this moment makes them sob every time.

Real Never Waits (Season 2, Episode 22)

The season two finale brought fans one of the most powerful deaths of the entire series when the joy and happiness of Chief Boden's wedding is brutally interrupted by a call for fire.

A sudden explosion leads to a collapsing pipe that fatally injures Leslie Shay, who soon dies despite her colleagues' best efforts to save her.

Sacred Ground (Season 8, Episode 1)

The eighth season began with a bang, literally. Unfortunately, the explosion at the mattress factory resulted in the death of Brian "Otis" Zvonecek, who sacrificed himself to save his crew and the factory workers.

It was such a hard blow to viewers that some fans even took a break from the show after this depressing episode.

Completely Shattered (Season 11, Episode 3)

Watching Violet desperately try to revive Evan Hawkins, who died in a heroic attempt to save one of the victims of the Pickwick Theatre fire, only to be pulled away by her colleagues, broke many fans, and her agonizing screams still haunt their nightmares.
