Compared to them, the finale of Daenerys Targaryen was the thin edge of the wedge.

In the television world, viewers often become emotionally invested in their favorite characters' lives. They cheer for them, cry with them, and hope for their ultimate happiness as if they were their own family.

However, not every character gets the ending they really deserve, and some of them end up in the most terrible ways. Here are 5 TV characters who deserved a much better ending than the one they got.

Dean Winchester (Supernatural )

After 15 years of personal growth, nurturing the bonds of his family, and making countless sacrifices, Dean dies on a stupid hunt. Even though he gets his own kind of happy ending in heaven, where in the end he meets Sammy and has the whole family reunited, he was the one who deserved to have a chance to have a family of his own here on Earth.

Robin Scherbatsky (How I Met Your Mother )

Let's get past the blue horn thing and the divorce from Barney. Though Robin seemed to have everything she ever wanted — the dream job and the opportunity to travel the world — her fate is actually very tragic. While her friends are building families and having babies, she is forever robbed of the opportunity to have babies of her own. Yes, she ends up reuniting with Ted, but if you look back over all those years, you will realize how lonely Robin actually is.

Bonnie Bennett (The Vampire Diaries )

Bonnie Bennet really did deserve a better outcome than the one she got in the end. She consistently put her friends first and made numerous sacrifices for them, and just when she found someone who could do the same for her, the writers unfairly chose to kill him off for no good reason at all.

It's heartbreaking to see such a compelling character lose everything and be truly miserable when everyone around her is living their best lives.

Bob Newby (Stranger Things )

The fate that befell Bob as he was devoured by a Demodog was undeniably tragic. Despite having just started dating Joyce and having no responsibility to Will, Bob chose to stay and fight alongside them, ultimately sacrificing himself for their sake. His dedication and bravery should have led to a more positive outcome and further opportunities for him as a member of the Byers family.

Missandei (Game of Thrones )

Season 8 was shocking, but the demise of Missandei was indeed a disappointing moment. The way the writers treated her throughout the season, giving her minimal significant lines and screen time despite having a close relationship with Daenerys, didn't prevent viewers from bonding with the character. That's why it was a different level of pain to lose Missandei in such a cruel way.

Freddie McClair (Skins)

Decades later, but we are still traumatized by this one. A tragic event takes place when John Foster, Effy's psychiatrist, brutally kills Freddie, making our jaws drop and our hearts stop beating. This most unpredictable and shocking scene deeply affected the fans of the show and left a lasting impression on them, making them hate Freddie's fate to the bone.
