5 Best Teen Shows to Watch on Max in February 2024
Aimed at teens but suitable for all ages, all of these are just great shows!
Looking for a compelling teen or coming-of-age drama? Then Max has everything you need. Read on for our list of the 5 best teen shows on Max this February:
Gossip Girl (2007 - 2012)
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 84%
Look lively! It's the show that thrust Blake Lively into the public eye. Gossip Girl pretty much does what you'd expect from its title. A group of teens in high school frequently find their private lives scrutinised on a blog.
The show has intrigue, teen drama and a strong cast of characters. It's real life, ramped up for dramatic effect. If you like soap operas and can't get enough of those teen drama shows, then this is for you regardless of your age.
Nancy Drew (2019 - 2023)
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 86%
TV loves murder mysteries. And this is one for a younger audience who find the original book series from the 1930s a little slow going.
Kennedy McMann stars as the eponymous teen detective – and there's a bit of the supernatural thrown in for good measure. It's a cocktail that had the potential to go wrong, but McMann's stunning performance carries the show and keeps viewers guessing.
If you like murder mysteries and the supernatural but have moved on from Scooby Doo, check out this show.
The Vampire Diaries ( 2009 - 2017)
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 86%
It doesn't get much more stereotypically supernatural than the Vampire Diaries. And I say that as a compliment to the show. It's got everything you'd demand from a series about vampires – but so much more.
Two vampire brothers are caught in a love triangle with Nina Dobrev's Elena, providing the teen drama element that lifts the show to another level. And the cast of believable supporting characters helps bring the whole thing to life.
It's a teen show, but it's multi-layered, complex and will appeal to viewers of all ages. As with many of the best shows on TV, it's the character dynamics that really make this show so successful. So, if you like a character-driven drama, give it a go – even if vampires are not usually your thing.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin (2022 - Present)
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 89%
Another show based on a novel series, this is the sequel to the original Pretty Little Liars. Our teen protagonists receive messages that threaten to out their mothers as responsible for the death of a schoolgirl back in 1999.
They don't know who has sent the messages, but they're determined to find out the truth about the girl's death. The show is something of a mixed bag with elements of drama, thriller, whodunnit and horror.
It's a bit like a slasher series for under-18s that will have you on the edge of your seat without giving you nightmares…probably.
We Are Who We Are (2020)
Rotten Tomatoes Score 90%
Imagine a bulk-standard coming-of-age drama raised to new levels via great scriptwriting and you won't go far wrong. This teen drama is given the same respect as any other Max miniseries.
The story is raw, realistic and relevant to today's world. Two US teenagers living on a military base in Italy face all the hardships of growing up in the 2020s. The writing and premise of the show are complemented by fantastic acting performances that bring the characters to life and have viewers feeling their pain, hope and (at times) utter frustration with the world.
It's a rollercoaster of emotions that will draw you in, grab you by the lapels and speak directly to your heart.
