5 Actors Who Were Just As Shocked By Their Character's Deaths As The Fans
Not every TV death is consensual.
If you were asked to count all the TV and movie characters you have mourned over the years, you would probably lose count. Although it is more common for writers to kill off characters in case the actor needs to leave the show, there are some cases where death is just a creative decision.
And not all actors agree with these decisions, just as not all viewers enjoy them.
Here are 5 actors who thought their characters deserved better, but couldn't help but watch them die.
Conleth Hill – Game Of Thrones
Just as many fans feel that Lord Varys is a much more developed character in the books than he is in the show, many disagree with the way he dies. Conleth Hill, the actor who portrayed him for eight seasons, later told EW that he took his character's death very personally.
Stephen Amell – Arrow
There is no better ending for a superhero than glorious self-sacrifice to save humanity, right? Well, Stephen Amell has a lot of issues with how Oliver Queen went out, and he's not afraid to talk about it. While most of his complaints have to do with the lack of respect he received from the crew while filming the crossover episodes, they are just as valid.
Vincent Ward – The Walking Dead
Although the actor seemed to accept what happened to his character, it wasn't an easy process. As Ward told Digital Spy in an interview, he didn't know Oscar was going to be killed off and was upset when he found out. It's never easy to say goodbye to something you've put so much effort into, so his reaction is completely understandable.
Kevin Spacey – House Of Cards
It's fair to say that Kevin Spacey got a quick death off-screen, as it was the only option available to Netflix given the circumstances of all the allegations piling up against the actor, but he didn't feel he was treated respectfully enough. Many fans agree, saying that House of Cards was never the same after his departure.
Lena Headey – Game Of Thrones
It's safe to say that a lot of fans were disappointed in Game of Thrones for more than one reason, but the rushed and underwhelming deaths of some very important characters was definitely one of them.
Cersei Lannister, one of the smartest and most well-developed characters on the show, going without a fight was as disappointing to Lena Headey as it was to fans.
