$100M is not the limit for a great Hollywood production.

It's no secret that becoming an A-lister in Hollywood not only brings endless accolades but also a big check to your bank account.

Going through all the trials and tribulations of becoming a star definitely pays off when you finally reach the top, both figuratively and practically.

However, even the best of the best actors can still compete with each other's level of wealth.

Here are the top 5 roles that have paid the most to the actors who played them.

5. Sandra Bullock — Dr. Ryan Stone, Gravity

The only woman to make the list is Sandra Bullock, who received an impressive $70 million for her performance in Gravity.

She was paid $20 million upfront but also received a percentage of the box office, which added up to a nice total considering the film's success.

4. Robert Downey Jr. — Tony Stark, Avengers: Infinity War

It's no secret that Robert Downey Jr. is the highest-paid actor in the MCU, including the Avengers cast.

The actor has made a fortune over the years playing Iron Man alone, but the $75 million check for 2018's Avengers: Infinity War was the biggest.

3. Keanu Reeves — Neo, The Matrix

It's hard to say exactly how much money Keanu Reeves made for each of the Matrix movies, but the reported total is $250 million, which works out to about $83 million per movie.

Not bad for an actor who was willing to give up part of his paycheck several times just to gain more experience on the set!

2. Will Smith — Agent J, Men in Black 3

The iconic movie grossed $624 million at the box office but had to give up almost 1/6 of that to pay Will Smith $100 million for his performance.

Although the amount seems crazy, considering how well the movie was received, it seems reasonable to share the success fairly.

1. Tom Cruise — Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell, Top Gun: Maverick

Bonus: Tom Cruise — Ethan Hunt, Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol

The only actor who could take two positions in this ranking is, of course, Hollywood's favorite special agent Tom Cruise.

Not only did he earn $75 million for the fourth installment of the Mission Impossible franchise, which would put him on the same level as Robert Downey Jr., but he also reportedly earned more than $100 million for Top Gun: Maverick as the movie became extremely successful.
