Homelander isn't all that crazy. Well, not all the time at least.

The Boys fans know what kind of guy Homelander is. He is a jerk, he is a psycho, he lacks almost every quality a real hero should have.

While he's known for his questionable actions and motives, there have been instances where he seemed, well, actually reasonable. A fan discussion on Reddit highlighted some of them.

Concern for Ryan’s Upbringing

One Redditor pointed out Homelander’s concern for his son, Ryan. He didn’t want Ryan to grow up isolated from the real world, fearing it might mess him up.

Homelander himself had a troubled childhood, and it seems like he genuinely wanted better for Ryan. Sure, he might have had ulterior motives, but he was right that raising a kid in isolation can have its drawbacks.

Despite some questionable parenting methods (like pushing Ryan off the roof), Homelander’s intentions for Ryan seemed mostly well-meaning. He was self-aware of how his upbringing affected him and tried to avoid the same for Ryan.

His relationship with Ryan brought out the speck of humanity left in him, showing that there might be more to Homelander than meets the eye.

Skepticism Towards Blind Obedience

Homelander is not one to simply follow orders without questioning the motives behind them. He often challenged the decisions and directives of Vought, showing his reluctance to be a mere pawn in their corporate schemes.

Before Homelander took over the company, Homelander pushed back whenever Vought tried to control and manipulate the narrative around The Seven and their actions.

Translucent’s Disappearance

Homelander was the only one who suspected something sinister when Translucent went missing. While others might have had their suspicions, they didn’t act on them. Homelander, on the other hand, was on point, showing sharp instincts.

Skepticism about White Genocide

Homelander rolled his eyes at the idea of white genocide that was supported by Stormfront, showing that he doesn’t buy into every extremist idea.

Despite his many flaws, Homelander never showed any affinity for Nazism. When confronted with such ideologies, he seemed uncomfortable and dismissive, showing that even he has some lines he won’t cross.
