4 The Walking Dead Takes Every OG Fan Is Fed Up With
These opinions were brought up way too many times.
The Walking Dead concluded almost a year ago, and now it's all on the spinoffs to keep the legacy going or put it to rest once and for all.
Fans went on Reddit to remember some of the most frequently expressed opinions that criticized the original show in one way or another. Let’s take a moment to remember what the haters mostly griped about when it came to the series.
It was wrong to kill Glenn off
The death of Glenn Rhee, one of the show's beloved characters, was a heart-wrenching moment for fans. Glenn's demise in season 7 sparked controversy, and many viewers just dropped the show.
While it is understandable why fans absolutely hated it, Glenn’s death was important for the story. The problem is that his death overshadowed Eugene’s death, and the show later struggled to introduce new interesting characters.
Shane was ahead of his time
While Shane’s actions were controversial, many think they were necessary for survival in a world where morality often takes a backseat. Many fans feel that Shane's character could have added an intriguing dynamic if he had survived longer.
But the truth is, Shane was a dangerous and mentally unstable individual who was luckily dealt with.
Rick was at his peak in seasons 5–6
Many fans argue that Rick Grimes, the central figure of TWD, reached his peak in seasons 5 and 6. During that period, Rick was straight savage. Rick's further character development took a backseat, leaving fans longing for the earlier seasons’ Rick.
While it is partly true, Rick was also impulsive and dangerous during that period. For example, that moment from season 6 when he pulled a gun on the Alexandrians.
Rick’s group are the villains, not Negan
This take suggests that Rick and his group are no better than Negan. We have already discussed why it is wrong to compare Rick and Negan.
It is a post apocalypse, and everyone did something terrible to survive. Negan himself said in the premiere of Dead City: “I’m not the bad guy. No one is. Or maybe everyone is.”
Anyway, even though Negan is one charming sadist, he is still a sadist. There is no way we can say he is somehow the same as Rick.
