Did you think the third season would change the game and make The Witcher a worthy fantasy series? Think again.

Fans believed that after the news of Henry Cavill 's departure and the disastrous second season, the creators of The Witcher would get together and make a decent fantasy show.

Even more hope was given by the creators' comments that the series would be more canon-compliant than ever. Unfortunately, the new season immediately killed all hope.

1. There are a lot of storylines, but half of them are just boring

The writers of the third season were definitely inspired by Game of Thrones.

Apparently, that’s why they spent half of the time on speeches of kings, intrigues of spies and love affairs. But there is little interesting in these arcs: the characters talk about nothing most of the time.

Only Geralt and Yennefer stand out from the general background. Their adventures advance the story and entertain with fights.

2. Running time is too long

The Witcher has long episodes, but there’s nothing significant happens.

There are a few amusing events that come to mind, but the rest of the time the characters are walking around, joking around, and sorting things out with characters that will never be seen again.

It seems that Netflix required a lot of episodes in the season, so the time was filled with empty activities. If the showrunners cut half the scenes, the viewers would not even notice.

3. СGI looks cheap

The budget for the third season exceeded $100 million. The money went to the actors' salaries and the set design, but apparently not to the hiring of good graphics specialists.

When sorcerers throw fireballs and monsters run out of the nest, The Witcher starts to look less like an expensive Netflix project and more like a trashy horror movie from the 2000s.

4. Even seemingly good episodes are full of downsides

There is an episode where powerful northerners gather for a ball. Geralt is surrounded by spies, seductive sorceresses and Yennefer's former lover. All the intrigues, jokes and rude replies of the Witcher are entertaining – until something strange and frankly annoying happens.

The ball comes to an end, but the viewers are shown it again, only with the new dialogues. And then it happens again. And again. The episode keep repeating the moments the viewers have already seen. As a result, you feel like you are in a time loop.
