4 Parks & Recreation Jokes That Aged Poorly
Parks and Recreation have received a tremendous amount of fans’ love, but some jokes these days can cause outrage.
Parks and Recreation can be called the little brother of The Office. Only instead of a paper company there is a department of parks and recreation. According to the plot, the ambitious official Leslie wants to build a park on the site of the pit, but this turns out to be not so easy.
Like The Office, this show is full of good jokes that will help you relax and laugh even on your worst day. However, some of them seem questionable today, to say the least.
You’re Gayle, Jerry’s beautiful wife, who looks like that
Everyone remembers Jerry, the awkward and obviously not the most handsome man on the planet. However, in one of the episodes it was revealed that Jerry has a very beautiful wife, Gayle. This discrepancy will be the basis for jokes for a very long time, mostly from Ben. For example, he once said: "Was she a Russian spy and the KGB forced her to marry Jerry as a cover?"
It Would Be Equality
After Tom divorces his wife, Leslie tries to cheer him up. And what is the best way to cheer a man up after a breakup? That's right, take him to a strip club.
Leslie says she is a feminist, and if she were a stripper, her name would be Equality. But when she meets a real stripper, she behaves just the opposite. She refuses to call her by her real name and keeps mispronouncing it (Seabiscuit instead of Sierra). She also suggests that the stripper reconsider her life choices, which contradicts her claim to be a feminist.
They’re All Rap-pists
Jerry always tries to stay in the background so as not to draw too much attention to himself. However, one of his jokes caught the attention of literally everyone. When Tom asked Jerry what Drake, Jay-Z and Lil Wayne have in common, he replied: "Oh, I know this one... They are all rap-pists."
Sorry Jerry, we're not making such high-profile accusations in 2023.
But you moved to South Carolina from where?
Because of Tom's appearance, many co-workers often assumed he was from somewhere other than the US. In one of the episodes, Leslie and Tom were alone in a van trying to get to know each other. When Leslie asked where Tom was from, he replied that he was from South Carolina, to which Leslie asked: "But you moved to South Carolina from where?" And Tom responded in the best way that he could: "My mother’s uterus."
