4 GoT Couples We Wanted To Be Endgame But Got Dany & Jon Instead
Those were the romances that left us shattered.
Game of Thrones may have centered on the fight for the Iron Throne, but the HBO show also featured plenty of relationships. Some of them were swoon-worthy, and fans loved every minute of it.
From the beginning, there was a number of couples that fans were ready to fight for. And that is definitely not Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen.
1. Brienne and Jamie
Jamie and Brienne have such strong chemistry that they could put any other couple on the show to shame. The two started out as rivals, but became friends over time. Throughout the process, they were aware of their deep attraction and, ultimately, their unconditional love for each other.
If that doesn't sound like the perfect romance, we don't know what will. At some point, many fans wanted them to drop everything and just walk off into the sunset together.
2. Arya and Gendry
It was nice when Arya and Gendry fell in love. And Arya, believing that this might be her last chance, decided to spend her possible last night on earth with him. They seemed like a great couple, and Gendry was a kind soul who could help Arya feel loved and happy for a little while.
But Arya had other plans for herself that had nothing to do with becoming the Lady of Storm's End. So even though fans were rooting for the couple, the relationship didn't go anywhere.
3. Robb and Talisa
Even though she wasn't right for Robb – Talisa was just a healer from the battlefields – it was a classic forbidden love story. Robb was promised to someone else, and the consequences of not honoring his arranged engagement could literally be fatal, but he married Talisa anyway, which made fans root for them even more.
They were one of the sweetest couples on the show, so it's only natural that fans were hoping for a happy ending. But then the Red Wedding happened.
4. Tyrion and Shae
Tyrion always enjoyed the attention of brothel workers: he paid generously, was witty, and did not treat them cruelly. But something more connected him with Shae – it seemed that two outcast souls had found peace, understanding and consolation in each other.
A forced marriage with Sansa, whom Tyrion did not touch as a gentleman, made Shae jealous, and then she betrayed him. The prostitute went to Tywin, Tyrion's father, whom he hated, for which she was killed by her ex-lover.
