4 Biggest Criminal Minds Stars that Would Make Evolution Even Better
Fans still miss Criminal Minds' golden era and the characters that made it great.
On June 6, the first two episodes of the new season of one of the longest-running crime shows on television, Criminal Minds, will be released.
And although many of the stars of the BAU team have returned for the project's reboot, Evolution, some, for one reason or another, have yet to join them.
1. Dr. Spencer Reid played by Matthew Gray Gubler
Matthew Gray Gubler got the role of Dr. Spencer Reid after Lukas Haas turned it down. The role of Reid, a child prodigy with a photographic memory and phenomenal orientation in various fields of human knowledge, was perfect for Haas, but he was unwilling to balance his life and career with the strict schedule of TV filming and ended up playing only one of the antagonists of the first season.
The much less famous Gray Gubler fit the role like a glove – so much so that fans of the series often cannot distinguish the actor from his character, attributing to the actor an encyclopedic knowledge and an inability to adapt to everyday life.
Considering that the actor was unable to appear in Evolution due to a scheduling conflict, we can fully expect the main fan favorite to appear in the new chapter.
2. Jason Gideon played by Mandy Patinkin
In the first two seasons, the BAU team was led by Jason Gideon, played by Mandy Patinkin. The actor immediately created a striking image of a smart leader and wise mentor. The importance of the actor's work on the show cannot be overstated: at the beginning of the series, the entire BAU team begins to function as a well-coordinated mechanism, largely due to the insight Patinkin brings to his character.
But Patinkin's departure from the team was also associated with the first major scandal in the project's history. Patinkin left his role for rare ethical reasons, considering that the level of violence in the plot was unacceptable for him.
The chances of seeing Gideon are not zero either – in the second season of Evolution, we will see Jill, Jason's ex-wife, played by Felicity Huffman. So maybe he will return in the form of flashbacks?
3. Derek Morgan played by Shemar Moore
Shemar Moore, The Young and The Restless star, played Derek Morgan, a native of Chicago's poor neighborhoods who was the victim of sexual abuse as a teenager, but managed to overcome both that trauma and the bitterness of the early loss of his father.
Having reached the heights of the FBI, Morgan continually tries to be a positive example to those who have lost faith in a better life.
Moore admitted that he respects Criminal Minds as a project that launched his career, so he would undoubtedly participate in Evolution if invited. So, producers, what are you waiting for?
4. Aaron Hotchner played by Thomas Gibson
Aaron Hotchner, a stern and reasonable FBI agent, seemed like the perfect choice to be the head of the department. Already too serious, he experiences a major personal tragedy as the series progresses.
But Aaron was played by an actor with a lot of comedic experience, Thomas Gibson, Greg from the sitcom Dharma & Greg. In 2016, Gibson was suddenly fired from the series due to his repeated conflicts with one of the members of the set.
The chances of seeing him in Evolution are extremely slim considering that the actor left the show in a scandal.
