3 Young Sheldon Storylines That Live in Fans' Heads Rent-Free
Young Sheldon is a spinoff of The Big Bang Theory show. But shortly after release it has become a successful stand-alone series with its own features and storylines.
Over the years, fans grew fond of Young Sheldon 's characters with all their flaws. They also started to appreciate the show's atmosphere, with good humor and great proportions of drama and laughter.
The show's writers take their time to dive deep into characters' personalities and their relationships with other family members and friends.
That kind of approach surely helps fans better understand what's going on in the series. However, with any long-running show, there are always storylines fans can't stand or get past, and Young Sheldon has its own share.
The first plotline that fans seem not that fond of is the "bad dad" one. During its early seasons, Young Sheldon establishes that George Cooper is actually a caring and thoughtful father and husband (even when he doesn't get everything right all the time).
But despite the minor tough-dad scenes, he still doesn't look like the person Mary and Sheldon describe on The Big Bang Theory. And fans have their theories why.
"My assumption is they had to change George due to the style of show it is. It's basically a sitcom or something of that nature. So they had to re-write his character but keeping it somewhat aligned with the TBBT version of him.
Plus Sheldon remembers everything, I think seeing how he acts in the show it's not misinterpreted. It's just a different George from the other original show," Reddit user CelebrationAwkward39 explained.
One more plotline fans also never made peace with is Sheldon's sister Missy's introduction to the show and how she was treated in early seasons.
The audience feels strongly about Missy not having enough attention from the family.
In episode 5 of season 2 it was even highlighted in the show in the scene where Missy herself tells a doctor how her mom, dad, and Meemaw are often busy with her brothers and that she apparently has no one who supports her.
And the last but not the least – an age-old question of Mary's relationship with church. Fans still can't get over the fact that Mary was fired from her job.
It happened in episode 5 in the episode titled White Trash, Holy Rollers and Punching People. Pastor Jeff breaks the news, pointing out the reason for his decision is that Georgie is having a baby out of wedlock.
But what makes fans a little relieved is that in The Big Bang Theory we still see Mary holding onto her strong Christian beliefs. So maybe God actually finds a way to forgive her.
