3 Very Different (and Very Exciting) War Movies Releasing in 2024

War movies have the power to make people feel a lot of different emotions, giving them brutal stories and visuals that are often difficult to watch. For example, many of the World War II movies are considered the most intense to handle.
But not all war movies have a true historical basis. This year has already seen the release of many different types of war movies, from fantasies to those depicting real-life horrors, with three more to come.
1. Gladiator 2
Release date: November 22, 2024
When it comes to epic war movies, Gladiator is often cited as the best ever made. It's the story that follows the defeat of the powerful Roman general Maximus by Commodus, the son of Emperor Marcus Aurelius.
And now, 24 years later, Ridley Scott is ready to give fans of the story a sequel. The new film will revolve around an adult Lucius who tries to follow in Maximus' footsteps.
2. The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim
Release date: December 13, 2024
The upcoming film is actually an animated movie that takes place 261 years before the events described in Tolkien's books. At the center of the story will be the legendary King Helm Hammerhand, who is caught in the middle of a brutal war with the huge army of Dunlendings.
Needless to say, fans of the universe are extremely excited about the new movie and eager to see what the creators have in store for them. There have been some pretty wild guesses so far!
“I believe it's going to be an anime format which will be interesting. Something so different from the LOTR films can help with people not directly comparing the two, like with RoP where it's just obvious the production value is so significantly less. 3. The Six Triple Eight

No release date has been set for this movie so far, but Netflix promises it will be out sometime this year. The movie directed by Tyler Perry focuses on the events of World War II and follows the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the only unit of color in the Women's Army Corps.
The cast of the movie is going to be exceptional, featuring Kerry Washington, Ebony Obsidian, Sarah Jeffery, Pepi Sonuga, Dean Norris, Sam Waterston, Susan Sarandon, and Oprah Winfrey.
