3 Signs That The Boys' Billy Butcher Won't Survive Season 4
Whether you like it or not, prepare to say goodbye to Butcher.
It was always pretty clear that The Boys ' most brutal fight would be Billy Butcher vs. The Homelander.
They are both so similarly violent and ruthless that they should be the reason the other meets his death, fans believe.
However, with the changes in season 3, more and more people are suggesting that Billy Butcher wouldn't live up to seeing Sups destroyed. And they have pretty good reasons to be negative.
First of all, it's now clear that Billy Butcher is sick. His death is not even hinted at, but almost promised to the audience at this point.
Whether he fights it or not, the Temp V will slowly consume him. Of course, there are some ways he could be saved, but not many fans think the show will go that route.
Instead, it's more a question of how he dies: weak and pathetic, tied to a hospital bed, or in a blaze of glory.
Second, it is all in the metaphors. So far the show has done an extraordinary job of portraying how violence destroys people and just creates more violence around them, and Billy Butcher's death, however it would look, will be just another perfect proof point.
The man, so caught up in the need for revenge, has become almost as dangerous, certainly as psychopathic, as the creature he's fighting.
His rage will eat him up inside, and viewers have no doubt that the writers are ready to go there and do it.
Finally, it would only be fair to have the same faith in the Homelander. His arc will also come to an inevitable end, as both characters are so intertwined.
So having Billy Butcher and Homelander both fight to take each other down feels like the smartest, most logical, and most epic decision to most of the fanbase.
However, not everyone believes that Butcher will die.
It's a minority, but there are definitely some people who doubt that the writers are ready to do it.
After everyone was so sure about the A-Train death that never happened, it's hard to believe in such an ending for anyone major, especially one of the leads.
