Young Sheldon is too good to be ruined by The Big Bang Theory canon so soon.

The prequel series is known for its continuity errors, and some fans prefer for them to stay that way.

Here are three reasons the audience wants Young Sheldon to be set in an alternate timeline (according to Reddit).

1. Sheldon and Missy Patch Up Their Relationship

The twins used to be close when they were younger, and even though they were different, they loved each other in their own way. Missy’s rebellious teenage years have now started, and that is supposed to drive a wedge between her and Sheldon, resulting in them being estranged by the time of The Big Bang Theory.

However, narrator Sheldon gives viewers hope that the prequel series is set in a different reality where Sheldon and Missy have patched things up, which is how he knows so much about her earlier life and, therefore, is able to narrate it.

2. George Doesn’t Die So Prematurely

The Big Bang Theory dictates that Sheldon’s dad passes away from a heart attack when Sheldon is 14 years old. The young genius is presumably turning 14 next season, so George’s death is coming soon.

What if his first heart attack was a sign enough to make him reconsider his diet and start taking better care of himself so that he doesn’t die so soon? Fans love George and don’t want to see him gone.

3. George Doesn’t Turn Out to Be a Dirtbag

Young Sheldon’s George is so much different from what viewers initially expected from him. He is not a drunk or an abuser, and the Coopers’ marriage situation is much more complicated than originally thought (and George is not the only one at fault).

The prequel show has made Sheldon’s dad into a much nicer person who has had a lot of character development over six seasons, and fans don’t want it all to go down the drain for the sake of following The Big Bang Theory canon.
