3 MCU Movies Could Have Been Masterpieces If They Were... Horrors
Fans are desperate to get a taste of something new in the franchise.
Marvel Cinematic Universe movies are known for their action-packed sequences and superhero elements. However, fans think that the horror genre can bring something new to the franchise.
Currently, the only attempt to incorporate horror elements in a Marvel project on the big screen was Sam Raimi ’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, the studio obviously couldn’t allow Raimi to make it a full-fledged horror movie.
Fans shared their opinion on Reddit suggesting a few MCU movies that could have been better if they were made as horror films.
The Incredible Hulk
While the 2008's movie had some thrilling action scenes, it could have been even more impactful if it were made as a horror film.
Imagine if the transformation of Bruce Banner into the Hulk was portrayed as a terrifying and painful experience incorporating some elements of body horror.
The audience would be able to feel his pain and fear as he struggles to control his powers. The movie could also explore the psychological impact of Bruce's transformation on his mind and those around him.
Thor: Love and Thunder was highly criticized for being too humorous for the most part, especially having in mind that the protagonist of the movie was Gorr the God Butcher, portrayed by Christian Bale.
Gorr, a villain who seeks to kill all gods across time and space, is a perfect candidate for a horror movie. Gorr's killing spree could have been portrayed in a brutal and graphic way, with each god meeting a gruesome end at his hands.
Avenger: Age of Ultron
A 2015 movie that features the Avengers fighting against an artificial intelligence named Ultron had its share of action and humor, but it could have been even more thrilling if it were made as a horror film.
Imagine if Ultron was portrayed as a terrifying and unstoppable force that could not be defeated by conventional means. The movie could explore the fear and desperation of the Avengers as they try to stop Ultron from destroying the world.
