Many A-list actors have already appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some of them actually became popular because of their involvement in Marvel movies.
However, there have been instances where exceptionally talented actors, despite having a role in the MCU, didn't have a chance to showcase their full potential.

Sam Rockwell
In the comic books, Justin Hammer was normally portrayed as an elderly man. Nevertheless, Sam Rockwell's version of the character was absolutely spot on in Iron Man 2.
There is no doubt that it was a great decision to cast Sam Rockwell for this role, and he absolutely nailed it. However, the problem is that Justin Hammer was a secondary antagonist in the film, who hasn't been seen since then.
Even though the MCU's Iron Man is dead, both Sam Rockwell as an actor, and Justin Hammer as a villain have a huge potential in the MCU.
Fans think that the upcoming MCU movie Armor Wars, that was originally supposed to be a Disney Plus series, is a perfect place for Sam Rockwell to come back.
Don't get this wrong, Christian Bale's performance as Gorr the God Butcher was one of the things of Thor: Love and Thunder that actually worked in this movie.
While Christian Bale's performance as Gorr the God Butcher is undoubtedly a standout, the character itself suffers from poor writing.
If you ask yourself: was there a better role in the MCU for the talented Dark Knight and American Psycho? Absolutely yes.
With his range and ability to convey complex emotions, Bale could have been given a role that would have allowed him to once again prove what a great actor he is, but we got another clichéd villain.
Guy Pearce
Guy Pearce's inclusion could have been a significant addition to the franchise. Unfortunately, Iron Man 3's handling of Pearce's Aldrich Killian fell short of expectations.
Pearce is a very talented actor who could have portrayed so many gripping Marvel characters. But they gave him the role of one of the least interesting villains of the MCU.
Iron Man 3 absolutely failed to fully explore Aldrich Killian's potential as a complex villain, and it's definitely a wasted talent.
