3 Famous Actors Who Almost Starred in Friends
Over the course of 10 years, plenty of Hollywood stars made a pit stop on Friends on their way to fame, and the show helped launch the careers of the main six.
However, there were many actors who didn't get their shot at stardom on the hit series (or got it in a different role than originally planned)!
Here are three celebrities who almost made it to the main cast of Friends.
Jane Krakowski
We could have had this Emmy-nominated actress for Ross' lobster if the stars had aligned differently.
On the red carpet at the Emmy Awards, Krakowski revealed to E!News that she "auditioned for Friends" and was up for the role of Rachel Green (which she lost to Jennifer Aniston ).
What a shame! However, this quirky blonde went on to star in 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which allowed her acting skills to shine brighter than any diamond.
Jon Favreau
Friends fans may recognize the accomplished writer, director, and producer as Pete Becker, Monica's billionaire boyfriend who decided to become the ultimate fighting champion, which cost him his girlfriend.
What you might not know is that he and Monica could have been the endgame – Jon Favreau was originally considered for the part of Chandler Bing.
Their chemistry was off the charts, so it would not have been such a bad casting decision!
Louis Mandylor
Remember "Fake Joey" from a season 6 episode when Joey finds his "identical twin" to join a medical study to earn some cash? The actor happens to be the future star of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Louis Mandylor!
The One with Unagi was a completely Multiverse episode because, during Friends: The Reunion, we found out that Mandylor had originally auditioned for Joey Tribbiani a few years back. Crazy, right?
These actors eventually found other paths to fame, but it is fun to think about what could have been if they had been cast in their respective initial roles. Would the chemistry between the main six be the same? Better? Worse? Who knows…
One thing is for sure: we love the way Friends turned out to be, and we wouldn't change it for the world!
