3 Bruce Willis' Iconic Roles Outside of Die Hard and The Fifth Element
We love the mainstream movies with Willis, but how about those a bit more obscure?
Bruce Willis is arguably the most popular actor to star in the greatest action movies Hollywood has ever made. His is the first name that comes to mind when you think of a true movie hero, invincible yet fun and fair.
There's hardly anyone who hasn't seen or heard of his iconic role as John McClane in the Die Hard movie, but there are actually more of his great roles that even the true fans seem to forget now.
1. Joe Hallenbeck
The movie he starred in after his Die Hard success was called The Last Boy Scout. It was also destined to be a huge hit as it was written by Shane Black, directed by Tony Scott and had Bruce Willis in the lead role.
Willis' The Last Boy Scout has some of the best one-liners of his career, given that his character could have been incredibly unlikable if not for the actor's endless charm.
And despite his character being a baddie, the fans were still rooting for him.
2. Jack Mosley
Another character, whose name starts with J, brought fame and success to Willis. The movie was titled 16 Blocks and the original idea was that it could be the continuation of Die Hard's part 3.
Willis' role is really controversial, but he still manages to get the love from the fans as usual.
He portrays an alcoholic New York detective who is obliged to protect a witness from corrupt cops while they are trying to make it to a court appearance on time.
Willis' unglamorous portrayal of a self-loathing detective who decides to do the right thing for once is a refreshing change for what could have been a mainstream project.
3. John Hartigan
Yet another J-named character finds the actor in the movie Sin City.
The film is an adaptation of Eastwood's The Dead Pool, with Willis playing Hartigan, a police officer who pays a high price for saving a young girl's life, only to have to save her again many years later.
Even with Sin City's hyper-stylized nature and the awkward love story at its center, Willis still puts a lot of emotion and courage into playing Hartigan, who is one of his most appealing action hero characters of the era.
