3 Best Couples on Grey's Anatomy, Ranked
The show gives its fans a huge variety of couples to look at, but we took a risk to pick the top three.
If we tried to do a ranking of every couple that has ever existed on the show (some of which should definitely never be created), the list would be 100 pages long, and you would end up reading it all night.
So we decided to take the short cut and rank three of the most fan-favorite couples.
The ones whose relationships and romantic scenes actually gave us chills and whose chemistry seemed real even from the TV screen.
That wasn't easy, either, considering the show is now in its 19th season and has more than 60 romantic relationships (not counting one-night stands and platonic hookups).
But we managed to narrow it down to three best couples. So let's see.
3. Alex and Izzie
Getting these two together was a really nerve-wracking process. We doubt that after their ugly breakup there was at least one person who believed they would be together again.
Even saying it out loud felt wrong for so many reasons. But life is life! Eventually, their paths crossed again.
But how they did it... that's another story. Also, an ugly one. Alex had to leave Jo to be with Izzie again, and that was a horrible scene to watch, because they were actually happy together in an absolutely healthy relationship.
That particular moment felt somehow wrong, but not in the grand scheme of things.
The truth is, there was always a little hope in every fan's heart that they would end up together. And they did. Not in a slow and beautiful blossoming-again way like in the beginning, but still. Nobody could take away their story.
2. Miranda and Ben
These two lovebirds are one of the show's marriage veterans and ultimately the best example of a relationship that Grey's Anatomy has.
Sure, they have had their ups and downs, but the good thing is that they always find a way to bounce back. They survived Bailey's OCD, all the church and state stuff, the miscarriage, and some more dramatic things.
They also had their heartbreaking moments, like the scene when Miranda wakes up after heart surgery and Ben sees her for the first time.
The fans could hardly hold back their tears. Their marriage is truly wonderful and full of real love. Those two just fit perfectly.
1. Meredith and Derek
Well, this comes as no surprise. We hope you weren't expecting to see two other characters here? Meredith and Derek were the most fundamental couple in the show.
When Derek died in season 11, fans were actually worried that the show would not continue without him.
Well, the show continued successfully, but we never saw a more powerful couple than this one. It's even impossible to pick one or ten of their romantic moments.
Even the show's characters (that would be Callie) said that Meredith and Derek were "living proof that love exists." We have seen them go through almost everything imaginable.
Sadly, their story ends tragically.
But the best part is that before Derek dies, he realizes what every other fan already knows: the most important day of his life was the day he met a girl in a bar and accidentally spent a night with her.
