3 A-List Actors Who Are Interested in Playing Marvel's Dr. Doom
As the Marvel Universe continues to expand, fans eagerly await to see who will ultimately play Dr. Doom.
The Marvel universe is always expanding, and with it comes the excitement of new characters and the actors who might portray them.
With a new Fantastic Four movie arriving within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans want to know the name of the actor who will portray the iconic villain Doctor Doom.
Surprisingly, some of the most commonly suggested actors actually expressed interest in playing the part.
Jon Hamm
Jon Hamm, renowned for his role in Mad Men, was reportedly linked to Mr. Sinister in Fox's X-Men franchise before Disney bought the company. Though that didn't pan out, Hamm's enthusiasm for Marvel remains undimmed.
A lifelong fan of comics, Hamm has recently revealed to Screen Rant that he is open to exploring roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly in the X-Men or Fantastic Four series.
Regarding Dr. Doom, Hamm seems hopeful yet realistic about his chances, acknowledging the competitive casting process but also his keen interest in being part of such stories.
Cillian Murphy
Cillian Murphy has been a popular choice among fans for the role of Dr. Doom. Murphy's approach to choosing roles is script-centric. He never said that he is a fan of the characters, however, during an interview with Josh Horowitz, he said that he is open to such roles.
Murphy keeps an open mind about roles, including comic book characters like Dr. Doom. For Murphy, the script is paramount. And if you've seen him as Scarecrow in Batman Begins, you know he's got what it takes to deliver some seriously awesome villain performance.
Mads Mikkelsen
Mads Mikkelsen, famous for his portrayal of villains like Le Chiffre in Casino Royale and Hannibal Lecter in the TV series Hannibal, has also shown interest in playing Dr. Doom. The actor even auditioned for the part in 2015’s Fantastic Four reboot.
In 2017, when FOX was planning to make a solo Doctor Doom movie, Mikkelsen told Screen Geek that he was interested in playing the character. He also mentioned the qualities he’d like to portray with villainous roles.
He advocates for villains with depth, akin to his portrayal of Hannibal, where the character is both menacing and engaging.
He would be a great choice for the role, and it would be a dream come true for many fans. The only problem here is that he already portrayed a villain in the MCU, — Kaecilius in Doctor Strange.
