$14.8B Franchise Boss Shatters The Rock's Dream of Becoming Next Bond: 'You Can't Be Dwayne Johnson'
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been very vocal about his desire to become the new Agent 007 lately, but unfortunately, his dreams are not destined to come to life.
Ever since Daniel Craig announced his retirement from the role of the legendary MI6 agent, talks about his successor have been going non-stop.
A whole lot of talented actors have expressed their desire to inherit the James Bond suit, but admittedly, none of them are going to take over as the franchise's bosses reveal.
While some of the actors (like Henry Cavill ) have massive support from the audience, the bosses of the multi-billion franchise call them either too old or too famous; for others, they keep coming up with different reasons for rejection.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is among the second category, but he's admittedly a no-go for the role of Agent 007 for multiple reasons.
Despite the franchise's bosses' explanation that they need a younger and not-so-popular actor for the new take on Bond, the 51-year-old world-famous superstar kept suggesting himself for the role.
Having expressed his ambition multiple times, it's obvious that the actor was lowkey hoping for a chance from the franchise.
Perhaps, The Rock's confidence got the better of him: even though he was clearly not passing the criteria, Johnson even went on to specify that he wanted to play Bond himself and not an antagonist.
Since the actor kept talking as if he was almost already in discussion regarding the role of James Bond, the franchise's bosses had to comment on this, and they went as far as specifically "ban" The Rock from taking over the role of Agent 007.
"[James Bond] has to look like a regular guy… You can't be Dwayne Johnson. He has to have a great physique. [The role] demands a high level of fitness, but he shouldn't stand out in any situation," explained Debbie McWilliams, the casting director of the franchise.
So it seems like The Rock's out of the race completely as he's the only actor so far who was specifically named to not be getting the role.
Maybe, if Johnson changes his mind, he could still enter the franchise as an antagonist or a secondary character, who knows?
We'll have to wait and watch the James Bond bosses' decisions.
