11 Wild Storylines in Virgin River Season 6 Already Teased By Showrunner
Season 5 may have just ended, but Patrick Sean Smith is already hinting at what we can expect in Season 6.
Virgin River feels like the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to great storytelling. Season 5 ended on a cliffhanger, leaving fans on the edge of their seats and eager to see what happens next.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith has teased some of the events we will see in Season 6, and here are 11 of them.
1. Mel’s Two Dads Will Face Off
Season 5 ended with Everett finally revealing that he is Mel's biological father. He also kindly offers to be in her life however she wants him to be, easing any pressure she might be feeling. From him, anyway. But it is inevitable that at some point Everett will have to confront Doc, the existing father figure in Mel's life. Will it be a friendly conversation, or will it lead to fear? Only time will tell.
2. Doc Will not Go Blind
This one feels like a hell of a spoiler, but one that fans will love. When we last saw Doc, he was losing his sight and was about to participate in a risky clinical trial. Many expect this to not go well, but Smith has confirmed that Doc and Hope will have some happiness to look forward to as their health drastically improves.
3. Ava Will be Baaaaaack!
Are you sitting down? Because you read that right. Ava, who we have not seen since the beginning of Season 5, is coming back in Season 6. We remember that she did not love Virgin River and was eager to return to Oregon. But friendship has a way of breaking down boundaries and making where you live less important than who you live next to. And Ava and Mel have a very special friendship that Ava just cannot leave.
4. Mel and Jack Are Planning a Baby
Fans of this couple will love this news. Season 6 will focus more on their relationship, and Smith has confirmed that the desire to become parents will be a major storyline. He also made it clear that he feels the couple has already endured too much tragedy for now. As ominous as that sounds, fans can at least look forward to a period of joy for them.
5. There Will Be a Time Jump
This is no secret, but what hasn't been revealed is how big the time jump will be. Smith has admitted that while this has been a planned element of Season 6 for some time, they are waiting to see how the audience reacts to Season 6 before fine-tuning the details. This strongly suggests that the idea is to make Season 6 more in line with what the audience wants to see. Exciting news for the fans.
6. Preacher’s Fate Will Be Revealed
Remember Wes, Paige's abusive ex-husband who she accidentally killed before leaving Virgin River? Well, now that his body has been found, fans are wondering what will happen to Preacher since he was accused of killing Wes. Proving that no good deed goes unpunished, since he was only trying to help Paige, Preacher has had this hanging over his head ever since. Will his relationship with Kaia survive?
7. Muriel and Cameron’s Relationship Will be Tested
These two seem to have more than one elephant in the room when it comes to their romance, and Season 6 will finally address some of them. First, the age gap. This is mainly an issue because it means that they are at different stages in their lives and want different things. She does not want kids and he does. Well, his whole reason for moving to Virgin River was to have a family. Now he says he is fine with just the two of them. Will they end in season 6?
8. Less Intensity, But More Romance
Smith has made it clear that he does not want Season 6 to feel like Season 5. He pointed out that the last season had a lot of heavy moments that left fans exhausted. Instead, the focus of Season 6 will be on romance. So expect a lot of love in the air.
9. Brady and Brie Will Reunite
It is fair to say that Lark, Brady's current partner, is a handful. Jimmy is the father of her daughter and she is deeply involved in a wild revenge plot. While Brie is now dating Mike, fans remain hopeful that she and Brady will rekindle their romance. Smith has confirmed that this is a real possibility in Season 6.
10. Paige is Not Coming Back
Many were angry with Paige after she enlisted Preacher to help her deal with her ex-husband's body and then fled town, leaving him all alone to deal with the situation. After stepping up like the good guy he is, Preacher found himself dumped, abandoned, and charged with murder. Now that Wes' body has been found, the possibility of Paige's return has been mentioned. But Smith has shut that down and confirmed that she will not be back in Season 6.
11. Pony Will Not be Like Tucker
Pony the puppy is his own character and this has been made clear. While he was small in Season 5 and may be recast for Season 6, fans can be assured that Tucker's disappearance will not affect Pony's storyline or life in any way.
