11 General Hospital Characters Fans Are Ready to Wave Goodbye To
A necessary sacrifice to bring more kids forward.
One of the best things about a great soap like General Hospital is a large ensemble cast, a group of people who cross paths and create some very entertaining dynamics, from passionate romances to even more passionate rivalries. However, when the cast gets too bloated, there is no way to give everyone a fair amount of screen time.
In order to move someone forward who truly deserves the spotlight and let go of those whose stories have already been told, General Hospital will have to make some cuts sooner rather than later. And fans of the show already have a good idea of who they want to see go first.
Molly Lansing-Davis
No matter how many times Molly is recast, it doesn't seem like her character is getting any better treatment from the fandom. Many believe that it's just a sign that she will be written off the show completely, and that viewers will be spared from having to sit through her plots. At this point, the character is completely ruined.
TJ Ashford
There are two things that have already gotten on the nerves of General Hospital fans way too much: boring storylines and the baby fever that everyone in Port Charles seemed to catch about a year ago. Stuck in the middle of both, TJ never manages to become an exciting character in his own right, so it's easier to leave him off-camera.
Kristina Davis
To complete the trio that fell victim to the surrogacy scandal plot, Kristina has to go as well. Even though viewers are more in favor of her development, she's been too confined by the plot and abandoned by the writers outside of it. Maybe she'll make a great comeback later on, but for now we'd rather see someone else.
Sasha Gilmore
This would be a bittersweet farewell, as the fans actually seem to like Sasha and enjoy her when she is around. However, she has endured years of tragedy after tragedy and has been severely underused in any meaningful arc. As much as she is loved, it would have been for her own good to say goodbye at this point.
Drew Cain
Since his recast, Drew Cain hasn't been the same character that General Hospital fans once knew and loved. Now that his romance with Carly is definitely over, no one is interested in watching him obsess over Nina instead. It's time for Drew to move on and grow off-screen before returning to Port Charles.
Sonny Corinthos
Sonny has been a Port Charles legend for more than 30 years, and Maurice Benard's impact on General Hospital is truly unparalleled. But all good things must come to an end, and many believe it's time for Sonny to put his mob ways behind him and retire peacefully while he still can. Or go out with a bang and make a major change in everyone else’s lives.
Carly Corinthos
Though opinions on Carly's romantic endgame vary from fan to fan, many would agree that it's time for her to go, too. Whether it is a send-off to match Sonny's or a separate occasion that sees her leave Port Charles for another opportunity, there has to be a way to bring her messy arc to an end.
Heather Webber
Now that she's been redeemed, there really seems to be no reason for her character to haunt General Hospital. It is always fun to watch a ruthless villain, but even they tend to grow old and lose their spark and appeal to viewers. If anything, we'd be more excited to have Esme back. And maybe that would be a worthy trade.
Portia Robinson
While it's hard to deny Brook Kerr's acting brilliance, it doesn't seem like Portia has anything interesting to do on the show these days. She used to try endlessly to break up Trina and Spencer, and now that Spencer is gone, her entire purpose in the show's universe seems to have gone with him.
Marshall Ashford
Just like his son, Marshall just doesn't seem to have any meaningful storylines anymore, and it's hard to imagine a scenario where the writers could actually use him other than to spiral back into some of the older drama that no one wants to see. He had a decent run on General Hospital, and now it's time to move on and make room for the kids.
Hamilton Finn
First of all, General Hospital really doesn't need an infectious disease specialist under its wing. Second, the chemistry between Liz and Finn just isn't right, and fans can't wait to see them break up. This breakup may be a professional loss for Port Charles, but it won't negatively affect any of the ongoing storylines.
