You won't find a more polarizing figure in Hollywood than Quentin Tarantino – some people love him, some people hate him, and his violent and extremely funny movies are often the subject of huge debates about whether they're bad or not.

But there's one thing you can't deny – Tarantino knows a lot about movies, having seen more than a few thousand in his life.

And here's a list of 10 of his favorites:

  1. Top Gun: Maverick
  2. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
  3. The Bad News Bears
  4. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
  5. The Social Network
  6. Carrie (1976)
  7. Apocalypse Now
  8. Jaws
  9. Audition (1999)
  10. The Great Escape

Yes, Top Gun: Maverick at the top of this " 10 Movies to Watch Before You Die" list, but that doesn't really mean that the Tom Cruise starrer is actually Tarantino's all-time favorite movie.

This list is a product of our time, and Tarantino, like a massive movie theater fan, decided to spotlight the biggest hit of the last few years and commend Cruise and his team for bringing people back to the theaters.

"I f–ing love Top Gun: Maverick. I thought it was fantastic. I saw it at the theaters. That and Spielberg's West Side Story. Both provided a true cinematic spectacle, the kind that I'd almost thought that I wasn't going to see anymore. It was fantastic," Tarantino said on the ReelBlend podcast.

Other films on this list are also quite popular, which must have made it a huge problem for Tarantino to compile this list, as he is an avid B-movie fan, and it probably wasn't as easy as some of us think to leave out his favorite titles in favor of more popular ones!
