Thank you, Internet, for the streaming services that decided to expand their collections beyond the USA and Oscar-worthy works across the globe: when the network licenses an overseas show, it instantly becomes much more accessible to a very wide audience that never even heard of it before.

Case in point: K-Dramas. They're so diverse that we have multiple lists about them, but this one will focus on 10 shows that aren't based on romantic plots.

The way South Korean showrunners carve plots is very unique because their modern filmmaking approach is deeply rooted in their history of culture and storytelling, and that makes them even more thrilling for a person with a different background.

The twists are less predictable, the exposition sometimes can be too much, but it works so well when applied to the detective plot, or a chilling mystery.

The dramatic elements hit hard, especially when they're mixed with comedy. In the center of it all usually is a very simple person, one who is relatable, with understandable and sound motivations, and the changes they are forced to undergo because of the plot development leave you gasping.

These stories are very humane and extremely engaging. Binge-watch alert here.
