10 Must-See Medical Dramas That Are Not Grey's Anatomy or Scrubs
Medical dramas are popular for a reason: they're intense and sometimes they hit too close and too hard for a very huge audience, eliciting some strong emotions.
But outside of the major and well-known series, there are others that are just as great — and maybe even better.
The major medical dramas have been out for quite some time, endured a few reruns, and become a huge part of the general pop culture background. But other shows that focus on the medical stuff can offer new insights, new perspectives, and new problems.
Some of these follow the same mechanics as Grey's Anatomy or The E.R. and present a procedural storyline focused on a specific department. Others, though, offer some variety, adding a historical setting, some gnarly humor, or the elements of other genres, like sci-fi or detective, while also keeping the basis of the drama that the medical setting provides intact.
