10 Most Unhinged Homelander-Free Moments to Rewatch Before The Boys Season 4
The show has much more to offer.
Even though it's impossible to imagine The Boys without Antony Starr 's Homelander, he's not the only character capable of capturing the viewer's attention. There are just as many fans of Karl Urban 's Billy Butcher, not to mention all the other characters who deserve more recognition for their brilliant performances in even the most absurd roles.
In honor of the upcoming season 4, it is time to revisit the previous seasons. And if you don't have time to binge-watch all 3, check out the list of the most exciting and mind-blowing moments below.
Hughie Girlfriend’s Death
No matter how many times you watch the show, Hughie's girlfriend's death hits the right spot every time. It is a perfect introduction to the world's conflict, as well as a grim reminder of how quickly the life of someone we love can end. It is also a perfect jump scare for those unprepared for The Boys' level of insanity.
The Room of Blowing Heads
Technically, Homelander was still in this scene, but it's safe to say he wasn't the center of attention. The scene that Victoria Neuman caused during the hearing was one of the most brutal in the show's history. People's heads exploding and filling the room with blood is an image no one can easily forget.
Stormfront’s Accidental Kills
One of the best and worst things about The Boys is the way the show casually throws violence into almost every scene. The way Stormfront killed people while chasing Kimiko and didn't stop for a second to think about it is exactly what makes the supes in the show's universe so dangerous to society.
Black Noir vs. Soldier Boy
It's always fun to see the series like The Boy have animated scenes, but this scene in particular was anything but fun. The intense battle was only enhanced by the bright and kid-friendly animation style, and seeing blood and gore in this version was disturbing to say the least. However, this is exactly why so many people love The Boys.
A-Train in Hughie’s House
One of the scariest things a villain can do is threaten the protagonist's loved ones, and that is exactly what A-Train did. Considering his state of withdrawal, he could have snapped at any moment and murdered Hughie's father. However, the confrontation between them, with Hughie in the lead, was very entertaining to watch.
The Deep’s Gills Assault
Given how The Deep has welcomed Starlight to the crew in the very beginning, it was hard to feel compassionate toward him, but the scene with him taken advantage of ended up being one of the most intense and disturbing in the entire show. The Boys has always had its way with metaphors, and this might’ve been one of the most direct and brutal ones.
Neuman Giving Starlight a Nosebleed
Victoria Neuman must have been one of the most intimidating characters on The Boy so far, because pretty much every scene where she demonstrates her powers is as intense as the next. Thanks to the writers and Claudia Doumit's brilliant performance, Neuman's confrontation with Starlight sent shivers down many spines.
Butcher’s Flashback
To truly understand the depth of Billy Butcher's trauma, viewers had to take a trip down memory lane and see it all for themselves. It was Karl Urban's brilliant performance that made the moment so memorable and heartbreaking. From the trembling voice to the face of desperation covered in Lenny's blood, this scene is forever etched in the minds of viewers.
A-Train Killing Blue Hawk
Even though we all know that A-Train is no hero, it was hard not to root for him in this particular instance. This may also be one of the most gruesome death scenes in the entire series, as Blue Hawk paid for his crimes, never had a chance, and A-Train was instantly punished for not controlling his rage.
Butcher Sipping Tea
Who knew sipping tea could look so menacing? But when it comes right after threatening to beat the brains out of the old man's entire family, just about anything Butcher would have done would have looked sinister. You cannot underestimate a man on a mission, especially one who has already lost so much.
