10 Most Annoying Cliches We Want All Sitcoms to Get Rid Of
We love a sitcom that makes us laugh, but can we be the only ones laughing in the background?
Sitcoms have been a staple of television since the early days of TV and they've always meant to be light-hearted, humorous, and relatable. But there are some things about them that literally make no sense.
1. The Laugh Track
Why are we supposed to laugh at every single joke? Can we be the only ones to decide which joke is funny and which is not?
2. Living Standards
How do all these characters with minimum wage jobs afford to live in an apartment in Manhattan or in a goddamn huge house with a yard and a pool?
And why do we almost never see them working a full-time job? It's literally the afternoon, shouldn't you be at the office?
3. Dumb Characters
There is always one character who does not think as fast as his friends. And he is always the center of bullying.
We mean, yeah, the level of intelligence could be higher, but shouldn't you protect your silly bean and not remind him of his shortcomings every day?
4. No Consequences
Every action has a consequence, but not in sitcoms. You can escape at any moment and fly to another continent on working days and come back as if nothing had happened.
What is the name of this universe and how much does it cost to get there?
5. New Clothes Every Day
Like, they literally have a whole new set of clothes every episode (or even a few). Every single wrinkle is ironed, every hair is in its place, makeup is on point and even on their days off when they expect no guests you will see them all dressed up on the couch. Unrealistic.
6. The Same Spots In Restaurants Or Bars
And it's always free for them. Do they book in advance or simply redeem the spot? And how much money do they all have if we literally see them going out every single day?
7. Characters Are Always Together
Every sitcom has a group of friends who are inseparable. They spend 24 hours a day together and it seems like they are the only people who exist. What about family or co-workers? Or maybe any hobbies?
8. The Newborn
A baby is a crucial moment in any sitcom, and usually there is a lot of fuss around the mother and her unborn child. But once the baby arrives, it's all over.
Just a little mention of him and almost no screen time. But every time you get a chance to finally see the child, it's always a new unfamiliar face.
9. Lock The Doors
Seriously, there are a lot of madmen walking on the streets, why do you guys risk so much? If your friends want to come in, they can simply knock, right?
10. Prepared Jokes
The witty characters are an essential part of any sitcom. It's funny how they're always there to hit you with pre-prepared punch lines, and they just never run out of them. Our favorite quirky dorks.
