There is so much more we still don't know.

When it first came out, Big Little Lies created such a buzz that people literally could not talk about anything but the show for the entirety of the first season. The perfect cast, the mysterious plot, and the dark atmosphere captured the attention of viewers and kept them on the edge of their seats throughout the season. Add to that the amazing soundtrack and you've got the show you never want to stop watching.

The second season, which premiered in 2019, wasn't considered as successful as the first plotwise, but still, the addition of Meryl Streep to the already star-studded cast made the ratings quite high.

Recently, it was announced that season 3 of the series will still happen, despite the fact that the last one ended 4 years ago. And the fans of the series hope that these ten unanswered questions will be resolved in the new season.

1. Did Everyone Really Confess?

The most obvious question is of course this one. As you remember, in the first season the Monterey Five gang lied to the police about what had happened to Perry and got away with everything. However, Bonnie felt bad about that and wanted to confess, but was forced by the rest of the group to keep silent.

Still, the end of the second season brought all the women to the police station and we don’t know were they there to confess or to lie about something else. Season 3 must explain the final twist of the second chapter.

2. What Will Happen To Celeste and the Kids?

The second season was largely based on Nicole Kidman 's character Celeste and her children. Meryl Streep was added to the cast as the late Perry's mother, Mary Louise. At first she seemed to have good intentions, but we soon realized that the woman wanted to take the children away from their mother. Celeste worked hard to win custody, so will she really jeopardize everything by confessing to murder?

3. Did Mary Louise’s Story Come To End?

Here comes the follow-up question. Given that Celeste won custody of her children and didn't make a stupid mistake with the police to lose them, what does that mean for Mary Louise?

Well, it was revealed that she was responsible for the death of her other son, Raymond, whose death she then blamed on Perry, thus planting the seeds for his later behavior. However, given that her character is quite complicated, it might be interesting to keep her on the show and explore her personality more deeply.

4. Is Madeline And Ed's Marriage Solved?

In season 2, we saw all the cracks in the marriage of Reese Witherspoon's Madeline and Adam Scott's Ed. They were really unhappy for a long time because of Madeline's infidelity.

Towards the end of the season, however, they realized there was a way to save the marriage and renewed their vows. But will it be enough to put the past behind them? And if so, will Madeline risk confessing to her husband what else she has done?

5. Is Nathan's Breakup With Bonnie Final?

One of the show's most popular couples was Bonnie and Nathan. However, the weight of the murder was too much for her to carry, so she decided to go to the police and confess. But before that, probably to keep Nathan safe, she broke up with him and said a lot of cruel things to him. However, fans believe that season 3 might bring them back together as there is no real reason for them not to be together.

6. What Is Going On With Renata’s Life?

There's another couple that also needs to solve their problems. And that is Renata and Gordon. They were never the best couple in the show. While Renata was unlikable at the beginning of the series, we later learned that it's her husband who should be hated instead.

The finale of last season more than hinted at the fact that Renata and Gordon were totally and completely over, but she still told her daughter that "everything will be alright". What did she mean by that? Will she and Gordon get back together? Or does she have a plan to start a new independent life? Season 3 will tell.

7. Is Abigail Finally Going To College?

Abigail is Madeline's eldest daughter and she was portrayed as a real rebel in the second. season of the series. That includes some of her very questionable choices, like the desire to sell her virginity on the internet and never go to college. Madeline suffered a lot because of such behavior from her child but never gave up on her. Maybe that's why at the end of the season Abigail showed a little mercy to her mom and hinted on wanting to go to college.

8. Is Somebody Going To Die?

As Bonnie actress, Zoe Kravitz, shared with Vanity Fair, somebody was going to die at the end of season 2. However, she also added that it wasn't going to be her character. Still, she mentioned that it would have been an important character. So this can only mean that the writers just decided to postpone the death and it’s likely to happen in season 3.

9. Did Ed Cheat On Madeline?

Another relationship drama might be revealed in season 3 of the show, because in the previous episodes we got the feeling that Ed is no saint himself and he might have cheated on Madeline out of spite. He was just too flirtatious with Joseph's wife. So this storyline will probably be explored more in the upcoming season.

10. What Could Be the Charges If the Monterey Five Confessed?

We still don't know if they actually confessed to the police, but if they did, it would be interesting to know what charges they would face. In the book, they weren't so dramatic: Bonnie confessed and was only charged with community service for involuntary manslaughter. But what will be the consequences in the show's universe?
