When talking about K-Dramas, you should always put emphasis on the 'drama' part because South Korean showrunners love to make their characters suffer.

And some of these characters don't reach a satisfying conclusion by the end of the show which makes us a little bit furious. They deserved better!

There should be K-Drama death toll statistics because it feels like almost every show has a mini graveyard. The authors of K-Dramas never shy away from killing characters, even the ones in the leading roles.

On the one hand, it makes the show more memorable because nothing can be more shocking than a sudden death. On the other hand, it can alienate the viewers and make them resent the show and everything good that happened in it because the ending was so unsatisfying.

So it's hard to find the balance between the shock value and the audience's tolerance for it, and these shows missed it.

Some showrunners, however, decide to not kill the characters but rather leave them in quite unpleasant predicaments with no way out and no proper development for them.

We can't decide what's worse: seeing your beloved character stagnate and in pain or see them simply dying.
