10 Game of Thrones Book Characters You Won't Find in HBO Series
When HBO announced its intention to adapt George R.R. Martin's fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire into a live-action show, fans of the books were horrified, arguing that there was no way the complexity of the author's writing and the realism of his characters could be faithfully translated to the screen.
However, once the pilot aired, the naysayers were proven wrong, as the final material was deemed worthy by both fans and Martin himself. Still, much of the book's content was left out of the show.

As you've probably noticed, a lot of pretty important characters have been denied the chance to appear in live action, which has done a lot of damage to their storylines by making them seem shallower than they were in the original books.
Of course, none of the characters mentioned above were essential to the main plot of "Game of Thrones," but they played quite important roles in the subplots, which are widely considered to be the best part of Martin's writing.
While it would be interesting to see these book-only characters in live action, their absence ultimately didn't hurt the show at all, and arguably even made the show feel leaner and more focused.
