Time to dive deep into the history of television.

Even if you spend all your free time watching a variety of TV shows, regardless of language, rating, genre, or time period, you're still far from watching every show imaginable. All the studios, producers, and platforms have now created so many hours of content that it will be hard to fit in just one life.

While that may be disappointing to some, it also means that you will always have something new to watch. So if you are looking for the next hidden gem to check out, you can start with something from the list below.

Revolution (2012-2014)

Revolution is a sci-fi show that could have done much better in the 2020s than it did in the 2010s. Set in the dystopian future, a group of revolutionaries start fighting against the military tyrants, who gained their powers after the unknown entities shut down all the electricity in the world, creating chaos that's never been seen before.

Under the Dome (2013-2015)

Considering how popular anything Stephen King related usually is, this TV show somehow managed to go almost unnoticed for 3 full seasons. Not only that, but the CBS adaptation of King's story was not canceled, it was completed, so there are no unresolved cliffhangers to keep you up at night.

Witches of East End (2013-2014)

If you loved the 90's gem Charmed, you will probably enjoy this series as well. It is a slightly glamorized version of the story about women in a family who have magical powers and go about their lives with that knowledge. The show didn't last long, but it's very entertaining and makes for a fun late night binge.

Revenge (2011-2015)

This TV show is surprisingly unpopular today, considering how popular it was when it aired on ABC. Revenge, the story of a young woman seeking revenge on families who wronged her 20 years ago, became ABC's highest-rated Wednesday 10 p.m. series since Lost's 2006-2007 season and was the first to replicate that success.

The Secret Circle (2011-2012)

Based on the novel by The Vampire Diaries author L.J. Smith, the show failed to replicate the same level of success. The Secret Circle was expensive to produce due to its heavy use of computer graphics and dramatic locations, and it didn't pay off in ratings. As a result, The CW canceled the show just one day after the first season finale.

Pushing Daisies (2007-2009)

Created by none other than Hannibal 's Bryan Fuller, the comedy-drama Pushing Daisies has touched many souls and was unfairly canceled after only two seasons. However, this forensic fairy tale of a show is worth watching for its colorful sets, quirky and funny characters, and the magical feel that permeates the entire production.

Southland (2010-2013)

The history of this show is messy, as it was produced by NBC for its first season, and then announced its cancellation two weeks before the second season premiere. TNT bought the rights instead, and although the network had to make some budget cuts, Southland remained a fresh look at the work of the LAPD.

The Lost Room (2006)

Another sci-fi miniseries that would probably get a lot more attention if it were released today. The Syfy Channel show follows Detective Joe Miller, a father whose daughter got lost in a seemingly ordinary motel room. Now he must save his daughter by finding the items in the room that have unusual powers.

What I Like About You (2002-2006)

Starring Nickelodeon’s Amanda Bynes, What I Like About You was once the headline comedy on The WB, but has since been quickly forgotten. But the show about two sisters, Holly and Val, trying to find common ground on life's many conflicts is just as relatable and funny as it was more than two decades ago.

Life Unexpected (2010-2011)

When Lux, a teenager who spent 16 years in foster care, decides to go through the emancipation process, she has to find her biological parents. However, things don't go as planned and they end up regaining custody. This show about the family you can't choose had great reviews, but didn't get great ratings and was canceled early.
