Fans are prepared for another character's send-off, but can't decide who'll go.

If there is one thing that is expected from Grey's Anatomy at this point, it is the death of another major character.

The show has never been afraid to let its characters go in the most brutal of ways, and fans have gotten used to it over the course of 19 seasons.

So accustomed, in fact, that nowadays, when a character's death is teased, everyone just wonders and makes countless theories about who it could be.

Here are 4 candidates that fans really think are next. One of them is obvious, and three others... well, you be the judge.

Catherine Avery

Unfortunately for fans, Catherine Avery's life may be hanging by a thread. Throughout the episodes, we've seen her cancer progress, so her death wouldn't come as a huge surprise.

However, it would still be a truly heartbreaking moment for many. The only problem fans see with this option: it's too obvious an answer!

Miranda Bailey

This option is much less expected, but it ties in nicely with her recent involvement in the abortion law storyline, which has gained a lot of traction.

At first glance, the showrunners went with the "kill her with kindness" trope but knowing Shondaland's love for the unexpected twist, fans are worried.

Benson "Blue" Kwan

One of the interns who didn't get a warm reception from the audience and wasn't really used in any major storylines is Blue Kwan.

There have always been theories that at least one intern died (because there was no intern group where it didn't happen), so Kwan's death seems very possible to many.

Trey

This death could be used to either keep Simone and Lucas apart or bring them closer together.

Since it is now obvious that Trey is the only obstacle standing between the couple, removing him from the show is a smart move. Although fans have some doubts that it will happen through death.

There's no point in crying your eyes out over something you can't change; that's the one lesson Shondaland has taught its audience well.

The death may darken the season finale, but all the drama will continue in Season 20, which has already been confirmed and will have a different showrunner.

Tune in to ABC on Thursdays to keep up with the new Grey's Anatomy episodes.
