'Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse' Villain Revealed, And He's Pretty Underrated
Next year, Sony's animated megahit will get a long-awaited sequel, and one of the main antagonists is sure to make some Marvel fans scratch their heads in bewilderment.
The multiverse-oriented animated film created a furor back in 2018, and Marvel fans were blown away by the idea of having multiple Spider-Men at the same time but in different universes. But as the multiverse has become a staple of the MCU, whether Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will succeed again remains an open question. In the sequel, Miles Morales will go into the multiverse with Gwen Stacy and a host of other wall-climbing superhero alter-egos. But the main villain behind all the corruption in the film wasn't revealed until recently, and some fans are sure to wonder who is Spot.
Dr. Jonathan Ohnn first appeared in the original Marvel Comics in 1984, and his ability to open interdimensional portals in his body would certainly feel right at home in Sony's animated film. Although Spot has often appeared in the comics as an adversary of Spider-Man and Daredevil, he has failed to appeal to a wide audience of moviegoers, appearing only a couple of times in the animated TV series.
Perhaps, with interesting character arc and voice acting by Jason Schwartzman, Spot will finally get the attention he certainly deserves.
'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' is set to release on June 2, 2023.
