This Christopher Nolan movie could've been even better.

The Batman ( 2022) has shaken the audience and forced them to find a new level of appreciation not only for Robert Pattinson, who played Bruce Wayne flawlessly despite facing a lot of criticism at the beginning, but also for his co-stars like Zoe Kravitz.

Kravitz portrayed Selina Kyle, also known as Catwoman, and received a lot of praise from the audience.

What few people know is that it wasn't the first time the actress tried to land the role. In fact, ten years before The Batman came out, she auditioned for Christopher Nolan 's The Dark Knight Rises.

As we all know, the role went to Anne Hathaway instead, but for all the wrong reasons.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, the actress opened up about her experience with rejection. Like many other actresses, Zoe had to fight for her success despite already having a huge family name.

She's been turned down so many times that she's had to learn not to get too attached to the role when she doesn't know if she's going to get it.

Although it's a hard task for the actress who has to live through the character even at the audition stage, it's better for saving her mental health.

However, this method did not protect Kravitz from rude comments along the way. Hollywood has never been kind to women in the industry, especially women of color.

The actress has experienced her fair share of bluntness in the casting process. When she auditioned for the role of Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, she was rejected because she was "too urban" for the part.

"Being a woman of color and being an actor and being told at that time that I wasn't able to read because of the color of my skin, and the word urban being thrown around like that, that was what was really hard about that moment," she admitted.

Luckily, ten years later, justice was restored, and Zoe Kravitz got a chance to prove herself to Hollywood and audiences in a role that put her in the company of other A-listers.

You can stream The Batman on Netflix, Hulu and MAX, and check out the actress' performance for yourself.
