Turns out, the dreams are not the same for the women of the show.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is a hit show on Amazon Prime. It has four successful seasons and is currently in its fifth season after a long hiatus.

The new season of the show starts with a time travel trick that shows Midge and Joel's daughter as a teenage genius who suffers from some kind of mild mental disorders because of her mother and makes a breakthrough in science during her therapy session.

But after all that happened, we still go back to the show's time, years before, and find Joel Maisel with Midge and the whole family gathered for Thanksgiving dinner.

As we recall, season 4 ended with the news that Joel's current girlfriend, Mei Lin, was pregnant. So, at the beginning of the evening, Joel decides that it's time to share the news and announces that his soon-to-be wife is pregnant.

Frankly, Joel seems pretty happy with all the news in his life. He loves Mei and really wants things to work out between them.

Unfortunately, he soon finds out that life is not all sunshine and rainbows. What seemed to solidify their relationship actually broke it up.

Mei came to Joel just to tell him that she got an abortion. Her reasoning is really simple.

She told him all the time during the show that she wanted to be a doctor, and now she is not going to let the baby settle down and interfere with her dream job in Chicago. And this is the last time she will ever appear on the show.

The show's creators revealed that it was always their intention to keep her in Joel's life for a short time. Just to take him out of Midge's orbit and show what other women on the show could be like.

While Midge ended up in stand-up comedy as a result of her failed marriage, Mei's career path was something she had planned.

In the interview with TV Line, Sherman-Palladino concluded that Mei symbolizes women who want to get things done before starting a family and who choose to do things differently than their mothers did.

Well, all we can do is wish her luck and give Joel a little support.

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, currently in its fifth and final season, is streaming on Prime Video. New episode, titled The Testi-Roastial, is scheduled to premiere on May 5.
