Why Don’t These Beloved Characters Return in Daredevil: Born Again? Here’s a Theory
Foggy and Karen are not returning because... they are dead.
Foggy Nelson and Karen Page, Matt Murdock's best buddies and coworkers, played by Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll, really added something cool to Netflix 's Daredevil series.
Fans were excited to see them again when Daredevil: Born Again, the upcoming reboot within the MCU, was announced. However, the actors are not in the cast, and it’s evident at this point that they won’t appear in the series.
Fans were disappointed, to say the least. With Foggy and Karen not being included in the new series, it is safe to assume that the events of Daredevil’s three seasons on Netflix are not canon to the MCU.
But here's an interesting idea a fan on Reddit came up with. In the end of Daredevil season 3, Matt Murdock, our beloved Daredevil, warns Fisk that he'll ensure Vanessa (Fisk's love) ends up behind bars if Fisk even thinks about going after Foggy and Page.
Here's where things get spicy. The theory suggests that during the events that followed, Matt gets snapped (thanks, Thanos). But Fisk, Foggy, and Page didn’t. With Matt out of the picture, the deal he made with Fisk is off the table. This means Fisk is free to target Foggy and Page without any repercussions.
Now, while it's uncertain if Fisk would go as far as to harm Foggy, the theory is pretty confident that Page is in danger. Remember when Page took out Weasley in season 1? Fisk probably hasn't forgotten that either.
There are a couple of facts that contradict this theory. Firstly, Ayelet Zurer, who portrayed Vanessa Fisk before is replaced with Sandrine Holt. While it might be a simple recast, it can also mean that this is a different story and Netflix’ show has nothing to do with it.
In addition, some photos from the set, as reported by CBR, may imply that the series will take place during the Blip. Therefore, it might be another explanation for Foggy and Karen’s absence.
We'll have to wait until the show finally drops to know for sure. Daredevil: Born Again is expected to premiere in 2024 on Disney Plus.
