Yes, Rebecca Romijn might be the original Mystique, but new times call for new heroes, right?
This is Halloween, and it looks like the iconic X-Men character, Mystique, has become an inspiration for many spooky outfits this year. Among those who decided to rock a total blue look was Internet diva Kim Kardashian, who showed off her Mystique costume on social media... and even winked at Marvel.
In a separate post with a video of the costume, Kim wrote "Hey Marvel", apparently flirting with the idea that the studio can sign her up to portray the iconic mutant — should the MCU go for yet another character iteration.
However, Kim was not the only one to don blue on Halloween. Rapper Saweetie also transformed into Mystique, predictably launching a viral contest between herself and Kardashian on who wore it better. And may we say, opinions do vary.
Kim's costume got more praise for the attention to details, but many people also prefer Saweetie's version. But no matter whose side you're on, Mystique remains one of the most popular Halloween costumes, and everyone is allowed a shot at reprising the role of the mutant for the spooky season.
After all, Rebecca Romijn, who played the mutant in the original Marvel trilogy (2000-2006), will always take up a special place in every nerd's heart. Regarding the future actors who might be up for taking over the character... it seems there is quite a competition!
