The spinoff will kick it off back to back with the original show.

There’s only a couple of months left until the new TV season is finally launched for all of the major networks across the US, and it means that some fan-favorite shows will be back with their new highly anticipated installments.

While CBS is getting prepared for a major comeback of its police procedural giant NCIS, accompanied by two more spinoffs, NBC isn’t a less essential game player.

The network is about to drop more episodes for its own legal drama Law & Order and the show’s long-standing spinoff Law & Order: SVU — and fans for both of them should get ready for a big celebration happening on a specific date.

As NBC’ execs revealed recently, Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU’s seasons 24 and 26 respectively will both premiere on October 3, with the former airing at 8pm and the latter following the parental series at 9pm.

The network also made it clear that both shows will be airing their new episodes every Thursday until their seasons’ eventual end.

Despite being a spinoff launched way later than the original show, Law & Order: SVU had an immense success with its audience which even helped the series surpass the flagship show when it comes to a number of its seasons, yet it’s still pretty easily explained in a different way.

Law & Order could have been much ahead of its successor if it hadn't been canceled in 2010 after a long run of 20 seasons. It took more than 10 years for NBC to revive the fan-favorite legal drama while its spinoff kept dropping new seasons every year.

Released in 1990 and 1999 respectively, Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU are currently keeping similar scores of 24 and 26 seasons.
