Boy, you're amazing just the way you are.

What We Do in the Shadows is a mockumentary-style comedy-horror series based on the 2014 film of the same name. The four-season series is set in Staten Island, New York, and follows the lives and adventures of four eccentric, centuries-old vampires.

While viewers enjoy the lives of a bloodsucking gang, including Nandor, who considers himself the leader of the group, Nadja, Laszlo, and Colin Robinson, there is also another member of the show who desperately wants to join the vampire family.

Guillermo de la Cruz stands out as the devoted familiar to the group of quirky vampires. From finding and luring the human food to their vampire lair to constantly cleaning up their messes, Guillermo has been a loyal servant to Nandor and other vampires for years.

For the same number of years, Guillermo has been begging to be turned into a vampire, but not only are the promises he receives usually postponed for ridiculous reasons, but he is also rarely given any recognition for his efforts.

But as much as Guillermo longs to join the ranks of the undead, his quest reaches a breaking point in the series. Guillermo's life takes a surprising turn when he discovers that he is a descendant of Van Helsing, the vampire hunter. However, despite his newfound abilities, Guillermo's desire to become a vampire still remains.

In the finale of Season 4, he takes matters into his own hands and approaches his friend Derek with a suitcase full of money, signaling that he is ready to take the next step in his journey.

However, there are good reasons to believe that Guillermo will not be allowed to become a vampire in the upcoming season. Guillermo's journey of self-discovery and coming out as gay to his vampire family demonstrates the show's exploration of deeper issues.

Becoming a vampire would not only be a failure in the preservation of his uniqueness, but it would also be at odds with Guillermo's personal growth and the acceptance he has found.

Of course, it would be fun to see Guillermo de la Cruz, the vampire slayer and their servant, finally become what he has wanted to be for years. But keeping him human adds more depth and intrigue to his character, allowing him to show more of his identity as a skilled vampire hunter and possibly finally earn the recognition he deserves from his vampire companions.
